Arresting Developments in the Police Reunion!

Well it happened. The Police reunited and played the Grammys. They proved to be as good as ever. Loose but tight. The ideal 3 piece. Sting never sounded better. His voice has grown nicely into Roxanne. I feel it may have been stretched to far when originally recorded. My complaint however is this, pre-recorded backing vocals. I mean come on they're better than that. Just a little disappointing. I also don't like that much hype for the performance of one tune. That's not to say when they go and play Fenway on July 28th i don't want to be there. Why I'm not saying that at all. little side note. John Mayer was awesome as always. On the commentary for "Any Given Thursday" Mayer said how bad he wanted to be at the Police rock n' roll hall of fame induction. Just a few short years later he played the same Grammy Stage as them on the same Grammy night. Pretty cool.

The Boys Who Cried Wolfie

Van Halen. I'm exited to hear that you're bringing Dave back in the fold. I'm sure Dave is too. It's cool that you've been able to give us new Dave on The best of vol.1 It was also cool to get new Sammy on the Best of Both Worlds. I have to say that I loved the stuff with Cherone though I understand Van Halen will always be defined by it's two eras. You proved that when you left Gary off your latest greatest hits.(which is another post of it's own...I'm a huge EXTREME fan) My concern however is this. Where's Mikey?
You can't fire him. Your not coming across good in this one. We all know you're not good with singers but Mike Anthony? He tours with Sammy you cut him loose. I saw the pound for pound tour in Mansfield Massachusetts. Sam had Mike and Gary out jamming with him while sharing a bill with Dave and who wasn't there? You're looking like a snotty little kid this time.
And what about the Rock and Roll hall of fame. I love the idea of Sam and Dave sharing the stage. I really hope Dave goes for it since Sammy already said he was open to it. But who is playing the bass? Are you going to do the right thing and let the only bass player to ever hold down the bottom end in that band or let the kid do it.
Wolfie huh? A15 year old kid playing with a bunch of Dinosaurs? What are you the allman bros? I don't care how good the kid is. You also commented in Rolling Stone That if Dave doesn't do it you would get someone else. You said Dave isn't the only one who can sing. Did you learn nothing from Van Halen III. Non of us want to see Eddie in a cheap ripoff of Van Halen.
The Michael Anthony/Wolfie issue is a major concern. Eddie and Alex have more at stake then just the future of the band. You also have it's past. The legacy could be tarnished. And the brothers loose their ground in Van Halen history. Dave's Egocentric, Sammy wants to be Solo, Gary wasn't working out, Mike is traitor. It sounds like wolf to me.

Why Kiss Owes Me Money!

This is loaded topic for me. Have you ever loved someone only to have the relationship go sour and then when ever you meet someone with their name you are forced to relive the entire relationship right through the bitter end. That is my relationship with kiss.
Don't get me wrong. I love KISS. I wanted the best and for a long time I got it. I have seen them several times, and I've gone in makeup. Not just any makeup mind you. I went as Eric Carr, the fox. I am a fan through and through. I can't even tell you how much I have spent on this band. I have every one of the Mcfarlene action figures, individually and in box sets. I have a sheet of uncut trading cards from the seventies. I have the entire Pyco Circus comic book series. I have T-shirt, Posters, Books, Movies and an endless array of KISS crap but this is not the issue. I own close to every KISS CD ever released including Tributes, solo albums, and other stuff i couldn't Begin to name. After buying these Cd's i bought double platinum (a greatest hits) then i bought smashes, thrashes and hits, (another greatest hits) then I saw the released an album called....ready... GREATEST HITS!! But wait, there's more. I bought Alive, Alive II, and Alive III. Alive 4 was released online and didn't move so the released another Alive 4 this time with a symphony. Alive III has little to none of the spirit of the first 2 because it was a different band. HERE IS WHERE THEY OWE ME MONEY. KISS released an album called you wanted the best you got the best! Which was nothing more than a best of the first two alive's with an interview with Jay Leno for good measure. I feel that after supporting a band through several lineup changes...ringers in makeup...endless licenced crap...Countless sub par albums and KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park! they could at least not shovel the same repackaged crap on their loyal army.
You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best was the day KISS stopped being one of favorite bands and became one the many corporations I just can't trust, and I want my money back!

Preface

I really had my first blog experience when i started the audioblog for the calendar project. I have read bluesmanjay's blog but other than that it was completely new to me. It didn't take me long to really embrace the concept. The audioblog was really created for a specific purpose so I didn't want to clutter it with my thoughts on Police opening the grammys(hell yeah by the way) so i decided to create another blog so i can mouth off. I haven't run out of thinks to think in 25 years so this should by a fun forum for me, no matter how self indulgent it may be. I look forward to shouting into cyberspace why i think gnarles barkley should have been nominated for best new artist or why James Blunt is joke or why bob segar should stay home or why Kid Rock makes a better country artist than he does rock or why Kiss owes me money or why Mary J. Blidge should run for president or whatever the hell else comes to my mind.
Oh yes, this is what the Internet was made for!
